Hawkgrove has identified an enhancement to the process of specifying and developing IT systems which significantly reduces project costs and risk. This is achieved by using our SyDat product.
SyDat allows system interfaces to be accurately specified in detail, incorporating the complete definition of message elements and, where appropriate, their values, in human readable form. This information can be used to stimulate and monitor one or more interfaces within a system.
The provision of human readable information makes the process of stimulating and
monitoring interfaces more intuitive and less prone to error, whilst the encapsulation
of the data in an electronic database provides the
opportunity to provide a specification
that is both functional and definitive. Sharing of this database between system suppliers
can enable a common understanding between them.

The use of common functional and definitive interface specifications across suppliers would eliminate the need for bespoke (often inaccurate) supplier manufactured simulators, thus significantly increasing the likelihood that components brought together at systems integration will communicate reliably (commonly they don’t!). Add to this the benefit of being able to generically monitor the activity between systems in human readable form in real time, with recording and playback capabilities, and you have modified the current IT engineering process in a simple but extremely effective way.
